I grew up in the south, having moved to Georgia at the age of five, however never felt I could call myself a southerner. I was an outsider.  Perhaps this was due to the fact that my parents were not from the south.  It seemed to me that to be a true southerner your Mama’s Mama and your Daddy’s Daddy also had to be from the region.  My outsider status made me a keen observer.  I was, and still am, fascinated by the sense of place and iidentity those who have lived in one place for generations possess.

My desire to put down roots is evidenced by the fact that I have lived in Athens, Georgia for over twenty years now.  My paintings are very much about this community I have adopted and claimed as my own.

I recently received my Masters of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Georgia with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing. I still live in Athens with my son, Jeffrey and dog, Indigo, both native Georgians.
